Whether you are using your online business to supplement your income or as your primary income is really irrelevant. Deciding on a product to market can be just as difficult in either case. Creating a product from scratch is not an easy thing to do and it’s even harder to create a high profit product. The solution to this problem for beginners and seasoned veterans alike is affiliate marketing.

Just because you are starting an Article Marketing business does not mean that you must have your own product. There are many quality products out there that have affiliate program. Honestly I see affiliate marketing as one of the best ways to generate profit, and I do use it myself.

Affiliate marketing lends itself very well to the Article Marketing. After signing up with an affiliate program you are ready to start making money and building your list by selling other people’s products. Now start writing and articles based on the affiliate product. In the resource box steer people to your squeeze page. Offer a free product or report in exchange for your visitor’s information and then use the affiliate page as your upsell.

You should think of affiliate marketing and Article Marketing as a double win situation. You win when a visitor purchases the affiliate product, money is a good thing. You also win because your visitor has added themselves to you list. Truthfully getting a visitor on your list is more important and will make you more money in long run than selling the product. Once someone has chosen to opt in to your list your can then market the same affiliate product to them as well as others or even products of your own.

A couple of the easiest places to sign up for affiliate programs are Clickbank and Commission Junction. Once you join them you have access to literally hundreds of products to market. of the best ways of earning profit with affiliate marketing is to market residual affiliate programs. Residual programs are those where the affiliate gets paid as long as the merchant keeps the customer.

I believe that combining Article Marketing with affiliate marketing is one of the best ways to create a profitable online business. Not only will you make money from the sales of your affiliate products, you will build the all important list. Your list is your livelihood. How much can you make doing this? Well, that is you. Money will not simply fall into your lap, you have to earn it. The amount that you make depends on your drive, determination, and effort that you put into your business.

Just as easy for anyone to sell a product online as an affiliate you would also have to carefully check out the network’s reputation and the affiliate offers that you use. They are going to impact your online image and if they are fraudulent, you not only lose the money you made, but you can lose future opportunity for making money because your online reputation is shot via association too.

So, before you sign up to a network program, try to find out how long they have been in business and how carefully they vet their members. You may get some flash in the pan startups that offer outrageously good terms, incredible sign up bonuses, three tiered programs that last a lifetime, and then when you get on and work your butt off, they disappear off the Internet the next day. That is not the position you want to be in, either as an advertiser or a publisher.

So, go to different marketing and webmaster forums and check out the reputation of different offers and networks. You will find people are very helpful and will answer your questions or any misgivings you might have. Be careful to take these with a grain of salt too, however, as people do get paid to promote different affiliate programs. However, it’s better than not doing a little background check on your own.

A couple of good places to find information on affiliate programs are:

Digital Point

This is a webmaster forum, but it also offers and Internet marketing board where you can go and talk about all kinds of great online affiliate strategies.

Warrior Forum

Another awesome resource to find information on all things about Internet marketing. In particular, they have a board on affiliate marketing where you can get the latest scoop on some of the hottest topics in affiliate marketing, like CPA networks.

If you start getting complaints from people who used your links to go get an affiliate offer that didn’t deliver or committed fraud or theft, immediately remove that offer from your lineup and substitute with another one, while you investigate. This will save you multiple headaches down the road. Now, you may be wondering how the heck you’re going to be able to do that when you might have inserted that link all over the web, in free infoproducts that were downloaded, or on social networking site walls and bulletin boards. Impossible, right?

With a little extra planning you can save your reputation and continue to add marketing offers that uphold your high standards and make good money for you. All you have to do is always use a re-direct URL instead of the actual affiliate URL to send people to the offer. This way, should a problem occur, or even if the offer gets suspended, you can substitute, by simply reprogramming the re-direct URL located on your website in ONE location, rather than trying to grab all the links you sent out all over the web! Pretty nifty, huh? You’ll be glad you did this, especially if it turns out your network didn’t vet someone well enough and ended up hosting a fraud or online thief.

Have you figured out where your potential customers are and how to reach them? Before customers spend their dwindling dollars, they want you to show them that your product or service is the best solution to their problem. An increasingly effective way to reach your customers and build their trust is through online social media marketing. Has your marketing department evolved to keep up?

Traditional mass media advertising continues to erode its effectiveness as technologies allow users more control. Instead of the captive audience you had during prime time a generation ago, your marketing efforts need to be much more focused. People are spending more and more of their free time online, so that needs to be an important component of your company’s marketing plan. A simple website is no longer enough. Your future customers are deeply entrenched in internet communities, sharing a little about themselves, their pictures, and their opinions. Your company should be right alongside of them, forming relationships and building trust. You can bet if you’re not effectively taking advantage of online marketing, your competitors are.

Social media marketing is very cost-effective and yields significant results when it’s implemented by top marketing talent. What was popular two years ago, though, may be on its way out and something bigger and better is taking its place. To compete, your marketing staff needs to stay on top of the latest, greatest, and most effective methods. Today, reaching customers through popular social media channels like Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, Squidoo and others allows you to reach a wide audience of informed and tech-savvy consumers. These folks are interested in finding out what new projects your company is working on, what your corporate culture is, what special offers you have, and if your current customers love you or hate you. This allows you to build relationships with your customers in a kindler, gentler way. Perhaps most importantly, using social media marketing will boost your search engine rankings so your customers can find you easily through popular search engines and back links.

No matter where your customers find you online, you need to make sure the message you’re sending is consistent and carrying an appropriate brand and value message. This message needs to be reflected through your online activities, like your social media marketing sites, your corporate website, your blog, and even in your offline marketing efforts like advertisements, sponsorships, and media coverage. Your marketing plan needs to have a consistent look and feel that is adaptable, progressive, and informative–not to mention entertaining. To accomplish this, today’s top marketing departments need to have the right combination of talent and ideas. Your staff must research the options, implement strategies, and maintain momentum in an ever-changing online world. No one had heard of Twitter a few years ago, and now it’s a rapidly growing venue to share snippets of information and opinions. Who knows what the next new social media platform will be?

Companies using social media marketing effectively have the best available marketing talent on their team and the investment is paying off. If your company can’t make the same claim, it may be time to bring in some new players. Though social media marketing is only one facet of an effective marketing strategy, it’s an important one. Companies with progressive, determined, and talented marketing professionals will be the ones who continue to reach their customers where they are, and be in business for years to come.

Term For Today: Estate Freeze

An asset management strategy whereby an estate owner aims to transfer assets to his or her beneficiaries without tax consequence. In most estate freezes, the estate owner transfers assets, usually common stock, to a company in exchange for preferred shares. The company issues new common stock to the beneficiaries at a nominal value.

This strategy looks to avoid capital gains tax. When the owner exchanges assets for preferred stock, there will be no capital gains for the exchange. The company will give the beneficiaries new common shares at market value, so that no capital gain exists for the receiving parties. Because preferred shares are non-growth securities, the original owner will not incur future capital gains taxes on these instruments.

Term For Today: Payment Shock

The risk that a loan’s scheduled future periodic payments may increase substantially. Payment shock can be the result of several things, including the expiration of an initial or temporary start interest rate (sometimes known as a teaser rate), the end of a fixed-interest rate period, the end of an interest-only payment period, an increase in an adjustable-rate mortgage’s fully indexed interest rate or the recasting of a payment option ARM.

Many popular mortgage products, such as payment option ARMs, carry a great deal of payment-shock risk. Consumers are drawn to these mortgages because of the initial relatively low monthly payments they offer. All financial decisions, including the choice of a mortgage, should be made by carefully considering the risk versus the reward. Risks must be identified and measured through insightful analysis. When risks, such as payment shock, are recognized and measured, they can be managed or avoided.

Your goal is to target websites with regular traffic flow and large numbers of users and make them referral sources which will send visitors to your website. Naturally, you should try to focus on getting targeted traffic whenever possible.

These short-term strategies will allow you to get traffic very soon after you implement them. They will not only reduce your weekend traffic dip but may get you even more traffic to your website than the weekdays.

Network within Social Communities. This includes posting and interacting with other people on relevant forums, social networks like Facebook, news sites like Digg/Reddit as well as blog sites like Blogcatalog or MyBloglog. There will always been people on crowded online communities and you will always get some visitors if you plug your site discreetly in the right places.

Create a Weekend Link Bait. Establish the habit of creating and promoting a weekend Link Bait on popular social websites like Digg, Reddit, del.icio.us or StumbleUpon. This is by the far the easiest and most powerful way to get traffic to your site during the weekends.Social news sites usually get less news during the weekend, and it is likely that your bait will be more successful during this time.

Comment on Blogs. While many blogs don’t update during the weekend, you can still comment on the ones that do. Focus on those with more traffic and try to be the first few to leave a comment. Make your comment relevant and you’re likely to receive some visitors from others who visit the same blog.

Email Pitch Your Website. Write an email to bloggers within your niche to promote your website, business or best article for last week. Give away a product or offer premium access for selected publishers in return for a mention. Some blogs like Daily Blog Tips have a habit of doing weekend speed-linking. Pitch your site to these blogs and you’ll get some traffic if you get a link.

Try Blog Traffic Exchanges. Blog traffic exchanges are tools which allow you to get traffic by visiting other blogs. They are more useful for newer blogs and as they require more time and effort on your part, I suggest using them strategically to find new blogs within your niche as well.

Use Paid Advertising. This involves spending money on paid advertising in order to get traffic to your website. Pay per click advertising and social media advertising on sites like StumbleUpon can bring in traffic on the weekends. The benefit of this method is that you don’t have to do any work whatsoever.

Publish During the Weekend. Publishing during the weekend will get you some traffic, especially if you have many feed subscribers as some of them will visit your site to read the full article or comments. Smaller sites can also benefit as new content will bring in a small amount of long tail search traffic.Future publish your post during the weekend so you don’t have to sit down in front of the computer to write. Asking a question is sometimes the quickest way to put out an extra blog post.

Term For Today: Technical Correction

A decrease in the market price of an asset or entire market after extensive price increases. A technical correction occurs even when there is no evidence that the increasing price trend should cease. It is often caused when investors temporarily
slow down their purchases of securities, which commonly leads to a pullback toward a short-term support level.

A technical correction is a drop in stock or market prices when there is no fundamental reason for a decrease. After a steady increase in value, investors may become more cautious buyers at the higher prices and look to reevaluate the market, resulting in a decrease in purchases. The drop in purchase volume will stop the upward price trend from continuing while the market re-evaluates the short-term direction.

Term For Today: Living Wage

A theoretical wage level that allows the earner to afford adequate shelter, food and the other necessities of life. The living wage should be substantial enough to ensure that no more than 30% of it needs to be spent on housing. The goal of the living wage is to allow employees to earn enough income for a satisfactory standard of living.

There are supporters and critics of the idea of a living wage and its effects on the economy. The critics argue that implementing a living wage establishes a wage floor, which will harm the economy. They believe that companies will choose not to hire the same number of employees at such high levels of pay. This creates higher unemployment, resulting in deadweight loss, as people who would work for less than a living wage are no longer offered employment.

Supporters of the living wage, on the other hand, argue that benefiting employees will also help the company. If employees are more satisfied earning a living wage, there will be less employment turnover. This reduces expensive recruitment and
training costs for the firm. They also argue that the higher wage will boost morale. Employees with high morale are expected to have higher productivity, allowing the company to benefit from increased worker output.

Term For Today: Subprime Lender

A type of lender which specializes in lending to borrowers with a tainted or limited credit history. Subprime lending is more concentrated in a fewer number of large lenders than is prime lending. The subprime loan market is more tiere compared to the prime loan market where terms and rates vary little between borrowers.

Subprime lenders use a risk-based pricing system to calculate the terms of loans, including the interest rate, which they offer borrowers with varying credit histories. The securities issued by subprime lenders tends to carry more credit risk, but less interest rate risk than do securities backed by prime loans. This is because subprime borrowers tend to have a shorter time horizon and fewer opportunities to refinance when interest rates fall.

Search engine marketing may sound like Greek to the uninitiated, and can get quite complicated even for those that know what they are doing. However, by breaking it down you can expose the information that you need and turn it to a powerful marketing tool.

Keywords and search terms are what people use when they use a search engine to look for a topic on the internet. By using these, you can help direct your target audience to your site. However, in order to use them effectively, you really must have the knowledge on your target audience and what words and phrases they are using. If you and your target audience are not on the same page, you will have great difficulty finding each other.

Online, you can find several tools and services that will help you find the right search terms for your needs. For instance, programs like Word Tracker will help you find all of the possible words that you should include in order to generate traffic. Another option is to get a search term list that will help you to identify trends.

Of course, once you have your keywords you have to understand search engine optimization. Basically, this is being able to comprehend what the search engines are trying to find when they come to your site, and changing it to fit them. This in turn will cause more people to find your site.

First, you should think about your domain name. You do not necessarily need a keyword in your domain name unless it makes it easier for visitors to remember. You also do not need to buy multiple domains in order for search engines to find you. Next, you need to consider the title tag. This should include keywords or phrases, and are more important than the name of your company. An even more important consideration is your Meta Description tag. This should briefly explain what the site is about. Of course, the copywriting is a major consideration as well, since this is the text that the visitors will see. Make sure that this is written properly. Other things, like including images or having a site map can also make your website stand out to search engines. If you have problems, there is plenty of professional and free help available online.

Once you have perfected your site, you need to submit it to the search engines. You can do this with a free submit form, letting the search engine find you, or by paying the search engine to index your site. Submitting the free form is good for smaller search engines, while using directories to have the engine find you are a good all around approach. Paying to have the engine index you should be done with caution, since there are numerous scams out there that will not do you a bit of good.

Another consideration with Search Engine Marketing is your link popularity. This is the number of incoming links that you have. These can come from other websites, directories, or articles, and the more you have, the better.

Before you can worry about getting links to you, you need to make sure that your site is worthwhile to visitors. Update your content with good information to draw people in. Once you have someplace that people want to visit, you can start submitting it to directories. Then, you can start looking for sites that offer information in a similar or complimentary genre, and contact them about sharing links. Always look for partnering sites that are going to benefit you in the long run for the most success.

Of course, not everything is successful. Do not use automated programs for links. Do not expect everyone to want to exchange links, or to even send you a reply. You can always try again later on.

Once you know what to do, it is easy to expose Search Engine Marketing and use it like the tool that it is.
